Breaking news: Commercial Insurance jobs safe from offshoring for now

It’s nice to be able to begin with some good news. The FSU has just been advised that jobs within Recoveries and Settlements in the Commercial Insurance arm of Suncorp which were in-scope for offshoring will remain in Australia. This news follows 3 months of solid pressure on the company to abandon plans to send insurance jobs offshore, and everyone who has participated in this campaign can be rightly proud of their contribution to this outcome.

However, the news isn’t so good for a group of employees in Brisbane who work in Suncorp’s Transactional Accounting Team, who were advised yesterday that the functions they perform will transfer to overseas workers in the new year. Although Commercial Insurance jobs at Suncorp are no longer in-scope for offshoring, many more areas of the company are still in-scope, and it is vital that we continue to keep the pressure on Suncorp.
