Be Brave - Dob in Bullying to the FSU

Staff win against bullying: Sydney credit Union

The FSU is marking Safe Work Australia Week by urging finance workers to dob in bullying.

Workplace bullying is a blight on our industry. It is the most common reason for industrial disputation in the finance sector, and is occuring in workplaces right across the country.

It happens to older workers, younger workers, experienced workers and those just starting out in the industry. It happens to people in senior positions, and it happens to people working on the front line, in call centres and branches. And it could happen to you.

No one working in finance is immune. So far this year the FSU has received 516 calls for assistance from members, and we've represented 298 members in formal cases.

In a recent survey of FSU members more than half said that bullying and harassment, particularly around achievement of targets, is prevalent.

96% of survey respondents think it is important for the FSU to run industry wide campaigns to eradicate workplace bullying.

Workplace bullying can affect your health, your ability to work, and your income. Let's work together to stamp it out.

In big banks like CBA and Westpac, union members acting together against workplace bullying have won!

When you see or experience workplace bullying, you may feel as though you have no one to turn to. But if you are a union member you are not alone. Talk to your union today. Call 1300 721 548.
