There are a few public sources of information on rates of pay in the insurance sector. These include the Hays Salary Guide, Australian Bureau of Statistics and the FSU.
- Hays Salary Guides
Hays salary guides are compiled from information collected throughout Australia and New Zealand and from the results of a questionnaire that has been completed by over 1700 of their clients.
The salaries quoted reflect those actually being paid or offered by employers over the past 12 months, compiled from over 12,000 vacancies handled by Hays.
This information is used to show an average salary and a salary range for positions across a number sectors including insurance.

- ABS – Average Weekly Earnings
The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) compiles statistics for average weekly earnings. The information on their website contains estimates of average weekly ordinary time earnings and average weekly total earnings for full-time adult employees and average weekly total earnings for all employees, classified by sector and state or territory and by industry at the Australian level, for males, females and persons.
