Westpac Backflips on Aussie Jobs
Tuesday, 28 June 2011
Westpac has abandoned its commitment not to send Australian jobs overseas.
This week over 100 employees in Product and Operations are being told their functions are to be sent to India. The FSU expects more off-shoring announcements to be made over the coming months.
The change affects employees in Concord, Kogarah and Pitt St in NSW and Bedford Park & Lockleys in SA. Impacted areas include the Collections Contact Centre and Administration; Banking Services including Risk Operations and Customer Mortgage Operations.
The FSU condemns the banks decision to send Australian jobs overseas as short sighted and about cutting costs to increase already massive profits at the expense of Australian workers
and customers.
