Hello,

We are sending you this short message to introduce ourselves as the FSU endorsed candidates for the upcoming Westpac Staff Superannuation Plan (WSSP) elections.

I’m Tony Bowden, State Manager of Premium Financial Services in Queensland and I’m Tony Thompson, Home Finance Manager, South Melbourne, Victoria (yep, two Tonys) and we are seeking your support.

The WSSP has 8 Directors on its Board, 4 of which are appointed by the bank and 4 of which are elected by the plan’s members (you).

This year, 2 of the Plan Members’ Directors positions are up for election. Both of us have sought and received our union’s endorsement to run as candidates for the two positions.

Now we know that many of you probably take a “set-and-forget” approach to your super and that it’s not the most exciting topic to talk or read about. But wait! Before you move on, we need a moment to tell you a little about ourselves.

We’re both long term employees of the bank. So like a lot of others we’ve seen plenty of changes and lived through some good and not so good times throughout our careers.

We have gained a great deal of experience in banking and financial matters over that time, we are both committed to looking after the interests of our colleagues and we know the importance of super as an investment everyone makes to secure their financial future

We are also both conscious that all of us as bank employees spend our time looking after our customers financial interests but we don’t necessarily spend enough time thinking about our own. That’s why we want to make sure that you’re interests are strongly represented on our Super Fund.

Superannuation laws and rules are undergoing major change. It is really important that we make sure that our Super Plan remains strong and continues to provide good investment outcomes and benefits for members.

So, when you receive your ballot for the election of 2 Plan Members’ Directors on the 11th of August we ask that you vote for us, Tony Bowden and Tony Thompson – the Two Tonys – to look after your super interests.
