Attention St George Shareholders: You can help Save St George & BankSA
Print  |  Email

If you hold shares in St George we need your support. The FSU is opposing the proposed takeover of St George by Westpac in a fight for jobs, conditions and the future of Australia’s banking industry.

It’s time to make your shareholder vote count and to maintain an independent St George and Bank SA by voting no to the takeover.

Shareholders will have received information from St.George about the Extraordinary General Meeting that will be held on 13 November, where shareholders will decide whether or not to sell the bank to Westpac.

If enough shareholders vote no, the takeover will not proceed.

You can help stop the takeover either by attending the meeting and voting no, or by appointing Leon Carter your proxy so that we can vote No on your behalf.

You will receive a proxy appointment form with the information you get from St.George - an example of how to complete the form is attached.

You can return the form by fax to the FSU office on (02) 9273 8280 by Monday 10 November or lodge the form as instructed by St.George.

Alternatively, you can go to www.stgeorgemerger.com.au and complete the proxy form on line. You will need your Shareholder Registered Number (SRN) to complete the form this way.  Call the St George infoline on 1800 804 457 if need help.

FSU National Secretary, Leon Carter will vote your proxy against the constitutional amendment, the Scheme of Arrangement and therefore against the takeover by Westpac in the interests of St George customers, employees and maintaining a competitive banking industry.

If you need more information please contact the FSU Member Rights Centre on 1300 366 378, or email us at fsuinfo@fsunion.org.au. You can also visit the campaign websites for more information on how you can help stop the takeover:

PS:  Shareholders have the power to stop the takeover – remember to send us your proxy by 10 November
