Attention Part time staff - What has the CBA put in your Christmas stocking?

FSU has received calls this week from part-time staff regarding a reduction in their hours.

All Part-time staff should be aware that cl.12.1(h) of the Commonwealth Bank Enterprise Agreement provides that:

  • Your Manager must discuss the need for change with you, and must consider your preferred working arrangements,

  • You must be given four weeks written notice of a change to your hours, and your manager must be available to discuss the changes during this four week period,

  • The CBA cannot unreasonably withhold their agreement to your requests regarding changes to your hours,

  • CBA must have regard to your family and carer responsibilities, and

  • If you and your manager cannot agree, it should be referred to your manager once removed, and then to your manager twice removed for resolution.

CBA staff have been forced to start thinking about next Christmas by the request to plan your holidays 12 months in advance.  When thinking about next Christmas, part time staff may now have to consider what reduced hours, and reduced pay will mean for them and their families.

Part time staff who have had their hours reduced without consultation should contact FSU for advice.  Call on 1300 366 378.
