NAB Branches to open Saturdays - What are your rights and entitlements?
Thursday, February 19, 2009
FSU members on Brisbane’s Northside have contacted the Union office with concerns regarding the announcement made by the Bank to open North Lakes and Chermside branches for Saturday trading for home loan enquiries and sales. The Bank is proposing a three-month trial commencing on 21 March 2009.
NAB has advised Brisbane North Branch Managers that each branch in the region will need to supply staff for the Saturday shifts at these branches. This means that, on average, each branch will supply staff on two Saturdays in the trial period.
Expressions of interest to work on Saturdays at these branches will be called for, with time in lieu being offered as compensation.
FSU will be contacting the Bank today to remind them that, in accordance with your current Agreement:
- Weekend work is voluntary
- Where work performed is additional to your ordinary hours of work, for Group 1 and 2 employees, hours worked must be paid at the overtime rate for weekends, i.e. 100% (double time). Time off in lieu is only at YOUR election.
Your union will keep you informed of the outcome of our discussions regarding this issue.
