BankWest - Breaking the Code
Wednesday, 3 August 2011
There has been a noticeable increase in members being investigated and disciplined for breaching the Bank’s Code of Ethics.
We are concerned that members may breach this policy without realising it. The wording of the policy is broad and can be interpreted to cover a range of actions or omissions
Some examples of breaching this policy are as follows:
- Postings on Facebook that “the bank” considers unacceptable, and which identify Bankwest as your employer.
- Not escalating issues that the Bank considers are potential risks to the business.
- Being overly familiar with colleagues.
- Use of unacceptable or coarse language.
- Put Simply – if in doubt ask someone such as your team leader or Manager.
A copy of the Code of Ethics can be found on “explain it”. FSU members can contact us if you have any questions relating to the Code of Ethics. If you are not a member, join now – the next person to breach the policy could be you!
