Are you experiencing any of these Symptoms?

  • Feel you have to come into work early?
  • Unable to take your full lunch break?
  • Eating your lunch at your desk because you are so busy?
  • Come into work when you are sick because there is no relief staff?

The latest Australian Bureau of Statistics reports more than a third of Australia’s 8.6 million workers are working extras hours – UNPAID!

There is a Cure!

Like all cures you have to be prepared to follow advice, some of which may seem to be unpalatable.

Try to follow these steps – you will be surprised how quickly you see results.

  • Commence work at your rostered start time.
  • Go home at the end of your rostered hours.
  • Accurately record start and finish times and claim all extra hours worked.
  • Remember to take your scheduled break. It is important to relax and eat your meal/snack to avoid indigestion.
  • If you are too sick to attend work – stay home. Workmates understand and don’t want to get sick too.

Are you being told there is no budget to pay overtime?

There may be times when your Manager will ask you to work additional hours in order to complete allocated work. It is your decision whether to elect to take time off in lieu or be paid for the additional hours worked.

The Bankwest Workplace Agreement 2007 Clause 22.14 Overtime explains the circumstances of how you may be required to work reasonable overtime and what payments apply.
