Deadly Sin No. 5: NO DECENT PAY INCREASE
Monday, 23 November 2009
Who has been affected by the Global Financial Crisis (GFC)? - not NAB!
NAB made a net profit of $2.66 billion in the six months ended March 31. The good news doesn’t stop there!
NAB’s Australian banking revenue rose 13.9 per cent to $4.4 billion. Retail banking was also up 8.6 per cent. On top of this, from October 1 NAB abolished fees on overdrawn accounts for customers. Why? Because as NAB Personal Banking Group Executive, Lisa Gray put it ‘’Most of our customers …don’t think it is fair.’’
What about the 2% pay increase for employees –is that fair?
In the same period some NAB employees received a pay rise of 2% and those in groups 3 and 4 received nothing at all (again), members have told the FSU this isn’t fair!
- Is it fair that that outgoing CEO John Steward (who took early retirement last year) was paid $7.4 million dollars?
- Is it fair that outgoing head of Australian Operations Ahmed Fahour collected $ 5.8 million dollars?
- Is it fair that current CEO Cameron Clyne earns $ 5.1 million dollars?
If that wasn’t insult enough, all NAB employees are now encouraged to -
“Love their ATM.” It would seem in order to save on contract cleaning services NAB management think it would be far more cost effective to get already over worked employees to clean the ATM’s instead regardless of the location of the ATM.
Does it concern you that despite soaring profits that you are only getting a 2% increase (and some of you nothing at all)?
Does it concern you that despite soaring profits NAB chooses to dither in decisions to adequately resource branches?
Sign the Leave and Relief Petition currently in your branch calling on NAB to return some fairness to the working lives of loyal NAB employees.
