Leave and Relief

Recently NAB briefed the FSU on the changes to the Leave and Relief model.

The briefing consisted of an overview on the correct process for requesting relief staff to cover planned absences.

NAB have committed to the following:

  • An increase in the relief pool by 5.1 FTE
  • Commitment over time by NAB to add more senior roles BA2 and BM to the pool.
  • A commitment by NAB to cover Annual Leave, Training and Rostered Days Off
  • A more streamlined approach of processing and approving annual leave and other accrued entitlements.
  • A comprehensive briefi ng to all Branch Managers on the new model and the correct process to be followed.

NAB have stressed the importance of all Branch Managers requesting relief to cover planned and unplanned absences. Branch managers should record of all relief requested and whether relief was provided.

The FSU welcomes the changes to the Leave and Relief Model. If the process is used correctly, NAB assures us it should relieve the pressures on branches due to understaffing.

If you have any feedback please contact michael.carroll@fsunion.org.au FSU will survey its members in approximately 3 months to gauge if the new leave and relief model is achieving the desired outcome.
