89% vote YES to new IAG Enterprise Agreement

Employment conditions for almost 9000 staff at IAG will be updated following an employee ballot that returned an 89% Yes vote. 6500 employees, or 73% of the eligible employees, participated in the ballot.

The first union negotiated collective agreement at IAG since 2003 provides increased rates for Sunday work, improvements to parental leave, and greater flexibility on other forms of leave as well as an additional entitlement to mid-service leave for employees who have 7, 8 and 9 years of service.

The 2012 Agreement will also provide an annual safety net increase for the vast majority of IAG staff who are achieving expectations in their roles, in conjunction with the guaranteed pool allocation of 3% for 2012.

In early 2012 the FSU will provide material and information to members about how to get the most out of this new Agreement, whilst building a claim for improvements in the next IAG Enterprise Agreement.

A union is only as strong as its members, and it is important for us to acknowledge the contribution of Wendy Conlan who works for NRMA in NSW, and is also the President of the FSU’s National Enterprise Council for Insurance. Wendy was part of the negotiating team that met with IAG throughout 2011 to develop the Agreement that is now in place, and she argued strenuously for improvements to the document that was first offered by IAG. Well done Wendy!

The FSU also acknowledges the terrific work of FSU Reps at IAG, who kept the conversation going at IAG workplaces about the Enterprise Agreement and the National Worker Council who sought feedback from workplaces all around the country to help with negotiations.

If you have any queries about the Agreement, your entitlements or you need advice or support on an issue at work, do not hesitate to contact the FSU Member Rights Centre on 1300 366 378.
