CBA: Campaign Grows as Members Squeezed by Targets
Monday, 24 October 2011
Since 466 staff in six retail areas in NSW started disputing their targets on Friday 14 October 2011, the number of staff involved has grown to over 500, all seeking changes in targets and performance related issues.
Over the past week another 43 staff handed in dispute letters while 2 staff withdrew, leaving a net 507.
As reported last week, the letters are the first stage of the grievance procedure in CBA and they call on CBA to reduce performance targets to a level that is fair and reasonable in the current market. They also request that the targets be adjusted for time spent away from normal duties (e.g. leave).
With RBS doubling targets for October and November and some areas reporting increased pressure through tactics like a “power hour” of pushing sales and area wide targets of 100 new home loans in a week, many more members have talked about joining the dispute.
Stop the Targets Squeeze
Is there someone at your workplace who’s suffering stress at work, or working unpaid hours to reach targets, or working hard for inadequate rewards, or having to catch up on targets after having time away from work? To get involved and stop the targets squeeze you should talk to your workplace FSU rep or call the FSU Member Rights Centre.
