Executives Feel the Heat: Royal Commission Round Three

Your FSU Continues Advocating for Finance Workers in the Commission

As the Royal Commission reveals more banking scandals, it is vital that finance workers have their stories heard. Your FSU is a powerful voice in pointing out that it’s executives and banking culture behind the scandals, not bank employees.

Our message is being heard across the country. National media continue to pick up our messages about the importance of protecting workers throughout the Royal Commission revelations. Read some examples below.

Truth Emerges Around False Witnessing Scandal – FSU and Workers Vindicated

In Round Two, NAB admitted the scandal around false witnessing of documents was a “cultural issue” – something they denied in talks with the FSU in 2017. We stood up for our members and insisted it was a systemic issue caused by poor culture and leadership. Now, under oath, a NAB executive has admitted they knew this all along.

This is another win for union members coming out of the Royal Commission. Read our recent member update on this here: http://bit.ly/NAB_Concedes_Issues_Cultural

In response to NAB’s reaction to the scandal, our message about inequality in the finance sector was undeniable, with the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age shouting it loud and clear:

Your Voice on Toxic Culture is Heard

On Thursday Anna Bligh spoke to the Commission for the ABA, claiming that banks could be trusted to self-regulate. Again, this Australian Financial Review report shows our message getting out there! We made it clear in our statement that we must ensure executives are accountable for eliminating toxic culture in our sector.

This means improvements for every finance worker.

Your Voice in the Royal Commission

The FSU has built an online portal at www.fairfinanceindustry.com where you can tell us your experience of toxic culture in the finance sector. The FSU Portal is confidential and FSU will contact all contributors to discuss the next steps towards submitting to the Royal Commission.

Go to the FSU’s online Royal Commission Portal, add your voice, and make a difference:

If you have been contacted by the Royal Commission, get in touch with your union and we will arrange legal advice and answer any questions you may have.
