FSU members win $40,000 in back pay
Thursday, 19 May 2016
Approximately 50 Knowledge Expert employees working in Westpac customer contact centres have received a total of $40,000 in back pay.
The back pay was won as a result of FSU members getting together to raise concerns about their role, responsibilities, grade and pay. FSU members campaigned for over 18 months, calling on Westpac to review their role.
As part of the role review, FSU members successfully argued for the inclusion of extra responsibilities they had been carrying out since April 2014 to be part of a new job description.
The new agreed job description for the Knowledge Expert role was sent to the Job Evaluation Committee for grading and assessment, resulting in a new grade and pay point being applied.
In order to be eligible for the back pay, Knowledge Experts working in the customer contact centres had to meet the following criteria:
• Be performing in the Knowledge Expert role from April 2 2014 to December 31 2015 – including those seconded for 4 or more consecutive days; and
• Be graded below the minimum A3 pay point during that time.
Congratulations to everyone involved in this great win.
