Suncorp should allay offshoring fears by unequivocally ruling it out: Union
Tuesday, 11 October 2011
Reports that the Suncorp Group are now denying the company plans to send Australian insurance jobs offshore would carry more weight if the company confirmed employees’ jobs are not at risk said the Finance Sector Union today.
The union representing Suncorp employees is calling on the company to go further than the comments in Money Management on 10th October which carries an article headed “Suncorp denies offshoring insurance jobs”. “
“If offshoring jobs is no longer on the agenda then Suncorp should say so,” said FSU Acting National Secretary Chris Gambian.
“Until we see a firm commitment from the company that they are no longer in talks with World Network Services and Genpact about sourcing cheaper overseas labour at the expense of Australian workers, the FSU will continue to talk to our members and the broader community about Suncorp’s offshoring plans,” said Chris Gambian.
“Suncorp employees are anxious about their future, and members of the public who have been in contact with the union are angry about the possibility of Suncorp jobs going offshore.”
“Suncorp should rule it out, once and for all,” said Chris Gambian.
