Offshoring Clarification: Some Suncorp Commercial Insurance jobs still at risk

Earlier today the FSU communicated with members about advice received from Suncorp about jobs in the Commercial Insurance arm of the company. This update is to clarify the situation for members in Commercial Insurance.

The FSU has been advised that jobs within the Recoveries and Settlements area of Commercial Insurance that were in-scope for offshoring are no longer in-scope.

Jobs in other areas within Commercial Insurance are still in-scope, and may be sent offshore.

The FSU is working with members in affected areas to provide assistance, advice and support, and the union is continuing to campaign publicly against the practice of offshoring finance sector jobs.

The campaign to Keep Suncorp Jobs in Australia hit the Queensland Parliament yesterday, with Evan Moorhead MP launching a petition for Qld residents saying

“How can we build a financial services sector in this country when we offshore our jobs? Queensland consumers have lived through the offshoring of banking processing. These changes have not lead to better services, nor have they lead to lower costs for banking. The Queensland community does not believe that the offshore processing of insurance claims will lead to either better services or lower premiums.”

Don’t forget to check out the Keep Suncorp Jobs in Australia video and share it with your colleagues and friends.
