Suncorp: Details still sketchy on offshoring
Wednesday, 28 September 2011
The FSU met with Suncorp last week to discuss concerns about offshoring back office roles to India.
Suncorp have confirmed that Genpact and World Network Services are scoping the finance, claims, distribution, recoveries, settlement and administrative functions, and that representatives from these companies are currently at various sites observing processes and speaking with staff about the jobs they undertake.
Suncorp advised they are not able to provide detail as to the number of roles likely to be impacted nor a definitive timeframe of activities as they are still in an assessment stage. The FSU has voiced the concerns of our members who have given very strong feedback that the uncertainty and lack of job security has resulted in a loss of morale across Suncorp workplaces nationally.
The FSU confirmed that we are strongly opposed to the offshoring of any jobs in insurance, and that our members will engage in broad community, political and workplace campaigns to send Suncorp a message that keeping insurance jobs in Australia is important for workers, industry and the community as a whole.
Visit the FSU website and have your say in our offshoring forum, or call the FSU Member Rights Centre on 1300 366 378 if you work in one of the areas currently in scope for offshoring.
