Suncorp send 200 jobs offshore in 4 months
Wednesday, 8 February 2012
Suncorp announced this week that another 65 roles are being offshored to India. Genpact had been scoping the Accounting, Close and Reporting functions across the business and Suncorp management have made the definite decision to send these jobs offshore. These latest cuts come just weeks after Suncorp announced they are sending 71 jobs in personal insurance offshore.
Suncorp have been vocal in denying the numerous press claims that 2000 Australian jobs will be cut, but have been steadily making job loss announcements every month.
The FSU has proposed Offshoring Principles and Protocols which aim to reduce the negative impacts of offshoring on Australian Suncorp workers. These include:
- That Suncorp will consult with the FSU and staff over any decision to offshore work and its impact on staff
- That there will be no forced retrenchments, with Suncorp taking all steps to redeploy staff seeking an alternative role
- That no Suncorp employee should be forced to train the offshore provider that is replacing them
