Targets and Staffing in CUA
Wednesday, 21 July 2010
At the SCC meeting on Wednesday, 9 June, FSU once again raised the need for a policy on the setting of targets, and a lack of staffing in some CUA workplaces.
FSU has raised the need for a target setting policy at SCC meetings on 3 February, 10 March, 12 May and again on 9 June without a formal response from CUA.
In the recent FSU survey, 99% of staff said that they would like to see a fair process for the setting of targets. Fair targets become much more important when staff remuneration is so dependent on the assessment of your performance against your targets. FSU will continue to raise this issue with CUA management.
FSU is encouraged by news that CUA will be adding the equivalent of 10 relief staff to the branch network. As raised in FSU's Update of 22 June, where a workplace is short-staffed, employees may find it more difficult to meet their targets through no fault of their own. FSU is concerned that some staff remuneration may be affected by circumstances outside of their control. If your workplace is experiencing staffing problems, call FSU on 1300 366 378.
FSU believes that these issues must be addressed in your next Enterprise Agreement to be negotiated in 12 months time. Until then, we will continue to raise them with CUA management.
