In the last two weeks Westpac has announced that 115 more jobs will be offshored.

The jobs will be cut from the Concord Operational Centre and from Financial Business Services based at 275 Kent Street, Sydney.

Westpac has stated that it intends to save 20% to 25% of the St George cost base by 2011. These savings will come from both Westpac and St George.

Westpac considers sending the Branch Enquiry Line to India

Members have expressed concern that they will need to directly contact Genpact employees in India in order to resolve customer enquires and problems.

Westpac has responded to you on offshoring before
Your responses and actions about Westpac’s offshoring has made a difference over the past two years:

  • Westpac reversed plans to offshore 485 jobs from Concord in November 2006

  • Offshoring in Westpac is now limited to small teams on a case by case basis

  • Westpac is now assuring those whose positions are offshored that they will be offered alternative employment

Westpac has responded to members about offshoring concerns but more needs to be done.

Make your voice heard again on offshoring
Our branch/team believes that Westpac jobs should stay in Australia.

We will present your team signatures to:

  1. Peter Clare, Group Executive, Product and Operations, to request that Westpac reconsiders offshoring options.

  2. Members in the areas to be offshored including the Branch Enquiry Line to show your support.
