Health check day at WBC Bedford Park
Friday, 11 January 2008
Westpac and BT call centre staff at Bedford Park were treated to a health check day by FSU.
The day was very successful with a huge turnout and raised awareness of OH&S in the workplace.
FSU staff held discussions with workers about stress in the workplace, posture and problems associated with prolonged sitting, and issues specific to working at a call centre, such as wearing a headset, eyes strain from prolonged computer use.
The Australian Nursing Federation helped out by conducting free blood pressure checks, a local Chiropractor provided free spinal assessments, a hearing specialist was on hand to perform hearing checks, and vision tests were provided by an optometrist.
This was a great opportunity for FSU members to come together to talk about health, wellbeing and safety in the workplace.
