Welcome to the first edition of the FSU Careers Centre News, an e-newsletter packed with useful information for finance sector workers. Our aim is to help you navigate a career in finance and assist your career development every step of the way.
Have you ever wanted to apply for a job and realised you hadn’t updated your resume in a while? Have you ever put off applying for jobs because the task of updating your resume seemed too big? It is a good idea to refresh your resume regularly, even if you are not actively looking for a new job. That way, when a job you are interested in suddenly becomes available it won’t take much effort to refresh and polish your resume and you won’t miss out on applying for the job.
Your resume is your career marketing document, and some career specialists estimate you have as little as 10 seconds to make an impression with your resume. I have included some links to articles that provide good advice on creating a resume that will spark interest, which I hope you find useful.
The FSU Careers Centre provides a resume critiquing service for members, so once you’ve prepared your resume we are happy to cast an eye over it and provide feedback. This is a free service for FSU members.
If you enjoy this edition of the FSU Careers Centre News, feel free to share it with your colleagues and encourage them to subscribe as well. Best of luck with those resumes, and I’ll contact you again soon with more news from the FSU Careers Centre.
