Vacancy Notificaton: National Industrial Officer – Workplace Rights

General Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a National Industrial Officer in our Workplace Rights team based in Sydney or Melbourne.

This role is responsible for providing high level technical industrial relation advice and support to the industrial division and union nationally, including advice in relation to disputes, campaigns, and enterprise bargaining and award modernisation reviews.

Selection Criteria:

Essential Experience and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to and enthusiasm for trade unionism and/or social justice.
  • Tertiary qualification in Law, Industrial Relations or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience representing employees with workplace grievances’, including successfully representation before tribunals eg Fair Work Commission.
  • Proven experience negotiating enterprise agreements with national employers under the Fair Work Act.
  • Knowledge of contemporary industrial relations issues and practices.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Strong time management and personal organisational skills, including the ability to perform work within specified timelines.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team environment.

 

Desirable

  • Experience working for a trade union or similar not for profit organisation.
  • Experience dealing with national employers.
  • Experience drafting and submitting submissions to government bodies.

Salary
Salary for the National Industrial Officer – Workplace Rights position can be provided on request. FSU also offers excellent working conditions including employer superannuation contributions of 15%.
