Branch closure update

This is an update on the actions the union took yesterday regarding the temporary closures of 115 branches and subsequent secondment of staff as announced by CBA last Thursday.

Please share this with those in the network who are impacted by this change.

We compiled your many responses into a list of questions and issues for the bank to address and sent it yesterday afternoon.

It’s critical that your colleagues are aware of this opportunity to be consulted through the union, and of the support our union can provide.

Please share this page with them, so that they can have their say about the major change to their jobs.

In our correspondence with the bank over the past few days, we’ve firmly asserted that the three-day pause is not likely to be enough time to properly consult employees, and that we think there needs to be a further extension of a week.

Your right to be consulted about major change is a serious legal obligation on the bank, and it exists to avoid the stress and uncertainty of situations exactly like this one.

We’ll keep you informed as this progresses.
