CBA annual leave:
your rights

CBA has started to request that staff take annual leave in the middle of a global pandemic. We’ve had many questions from members about this issue already, and want to make sure that everyone is aware of their rights.

If you’re under pressure to submit leave that you’re uncomfortable about, CONTACT YOUR UNION ON 1300 366 378 – we can help.

ANNUAL LEAVE: YOUR RIGHTS

  • CBA can only direct an employee to take leave if they have more than 6 weeks accrued.
  • Even if you’re directed to take leave, CBA must try to reach agreement with you about when and how. This means that your personal circumstances have to be considered.
  • You can not be directed to take your final balance below 4 weeks.

The flowchart below clarifies your rights around annual leave. Please share it with your colleagues. There is a printable version here with more detailed guidance.
