Cbus EBA Pay increases: your questions answered

There is some confusion about who is entitled to the EBA pay increases and how they work.

The EBA covers all Cbus employees except for the Executives and the Coordinators.

Every employee who is employed by Cbus at the date the new EBA is ratified by the Fair Work Commission will receive a 3.8% pay increase, backdated to 1 July 2021.

(Packaged employees will be excluded from the guaranteed pay increases in July 2022 and July 2023, and instead receive a market-based review of their salary. Cbus have said they will notify employees if they are packaged employees.)

You are still entitled to the EBA pay increases even if:

  • you started employment at Cbus after 1 July 2021
If you started after 1 July, your 3.8% pay increase is backdated to your start date.
  • you are a maximum or fixed term employee
  • you have received a promotion or salary review since 1 July 2021.
Your yearly EBA pay increases help you and your colleagues keep up with the cost of living – they don’t offset your promotion or being paid competitively for the job you do!
If you’re waiting on a pay review, or if Cbus are including the 3.8% in a pay rise or pay review, that is a problem, and one we can help with – get in touch with the union.
  • you are on a VPP (bonus) arrangement
Due to changes in our new EBA, a VPP arrangement does not exclude you from pay increases. The only factor that determines your pay increase is whether you’re a packaged employee or an unpackaged employee (see above).

If you have any questions or concerns about you pay increase or backpay and how they are calculated, please get in touch with an FSU Rep or Organiser.
