CommSec Employees – Big Changes Coming Your Way

Thursday, 28 June 2018

CBA have started a process of offering CommSec employees the opportunity to move across to CBA conditions.

Overall this is a good move and an issue the FSU has been campaigning on for over 5 years.

By moving across to CBA conditions CommSec workers will benefit from improved personal leave entitlements as well as more detailed rights and entitlements from the Enterprise Agreement.

CommSec workers have a choice

CommSec workers will be offered an Individual Arrangement that maintains their salary however they will be excluded from the following terms from the enterprise agreement

  • Clause 5: Salaries
  • Clause 6: Travel
  • Clause7: Hours
  • Clause 8: Shift work
  • Clause 10: Allowances payable to employees whilst on annual leave and Annual Leave Loading
  • Clause 12: Public Holidays (except clause 12.2(b) which will continue to apply to you)
  • Clause 14: Allowances
  • Clause 15: Preserved conditions (other than item 1, Staff Housing Loans)

But there is a choice –by electing to go onto the enterprise agreement Commsec workers will receive entitlements such as pay increases, RDO’s, overtime, rights in reducing hours, the right to adequate staffing and the right for a fair and transparent performance appraisal amongst other things despite a potential reduction in pay.

The FSU encourages CommSec workers to weigh up the benefits of the decision to either accept the Individual Arrangement or to opt to be covered by all the rights and entitlements in the enterprise agreement.

For further guidance on your choice speak to your local FSU representative or call the FSU Member Rights Centre on 1300 366 378.
