Dear FSU Members,
Every day across Australia, tens of thousands of bank and finance workers like you go to work determined to assist our customers. Each day, you help thousands of Australians with those financial essentials that every Australian relies on. It’s your good work that helps people open a new account, get the best insurance deal, provides a home loan to a young couple, or gives a small business the room they need to manage their cash flow.
You do this ethically, fairly and with good will. It’s bank and finance workers like you that have customers at the centre of what you do.
Too often, though, you are required to provide these essential services under extreme pressure, or in a toxic culture.
On occasion, frustrated customers will take out their anger on you. This is never acceptable. Every time this happens, make sure you fill out an ”Incident Report”. (You will find these on your intranet page, or with your supervisor.)
Senior banking executives are responsible for setting the tone of their organisation. When staff feel demoralised, it’s the bosses that need to be held to account.
Unrealistic KPI’s, and the aggressive “sales at all costs” management bias have led to a rotten sales culture. Don’t bear the brunt of poor executive decisions.
If you are being unfairly pressured at work, speak out.
The Finance Sector Union is YOUR union. We are here to provide you with the support you need.
If you feel you are being unfairly pressured, contact the FSU Member Rights Centre on 1300 366 378.
In unity
