Joint FSU and Westpac working groups began meeting this May to explore group-wide initiatives for improving and clarifying your rights at work. The two groups covered our vision for ethical change and improving the gender pay gap. They are also an opportunity for Westpac and the FSU to demonstrate to members that it is possible to work together collaboratively to improve our working lives.
RRR & Consultation Working Group
The first meeting on Wednesday 15 May covered our vision for better engagement – treating people with dignity, respect and fairness as they go through the change process.
Members’ stories and examples are critical to showing how Westpac can improve the change and consultation process. These stories are evidence that members of the working group can share with bank representatives at our meetings to advance our position. We will continue to work with Westpac on this important issue.
Our next meeting in August will focus on Redundancy, Redeployment and Retrenchment.
If you have experience with this change process, share it in an email to ebfeedbackwbc@fsunion.org.au.
Gender Pay Equity Working Group
The Working Group on Gender Pay Equity met on Monday 27 May. In this first meeting we covered the fundamental problem, and the challenges in reducing the gender pay gap. We had a wide ranging discussion about the gap, and Westpac’s approach to pay parity.
Our next meeting will focus on the programs Westpac has in place to reduce the gender pay gap.
If you’ve participated in a program and have feedback on it, please get in touch with your FSU representative to share your experience. You can also email ebfeedbackwbc@fsunion.org.au.
