Thank you to those of you who were able to attend the CBA reps Zoom meeting that was held earlier this month.
This was a great opportunity for CBA reps from right across the country to get together and talk about their work, their union experiences and what is ahead for 2023.
In particular, we discussed the upcoming negotiations for a new CBA Enterprise Agreement in 2023 and the CBAs offshoring agenda.
Enterprise Agreement 2023 Campaign
The CBA has confirmed that it will meet to discuss the negotiations for your new Enterprise Agreement at the end of January 2023 with a timetable for bargaining likely to be known after then.
It is important that we are in the strongest possible position going into those negotiations by talking to members and understanding what is important to them, building upon our representative structures and ensuring we have a strong active union membership.
As a first step in engaging with CBA workers, we have developed a survey to understand what it important to them. This will help to formulate your log of claims – what you will fight for in your new Enterprise Agreement.
The survey will be sent to all FSU members. Please distribute and ask your colleagues to complete it. If you know a non-member, ask them to complete it and join the FSU. The stronger we are, the more we can achieve:
- An electronic copy of the survey can be found here
- A paper-based copy of the survey is also available for printing here
CBA’s offshoring agenda
Since 2021, the CBA has sent the jobs of almost 500 skilled Australians offshore. Despite their massive profits and other banks bringing jobs back to Australia, they continue to build upon their operations in India. This presents a real risk to the job security of many CBA employees in Australia.
At our meeting in December, CBA reps agreed that we should campaign against the CBA’s agenda, demand transparency from CBA and job security. As an initial step, we have created an open letter to CEO Matt Comyn for CBA employees, customers and the community to sign.
Please share this with your colleagues, friends and community.
Staying Connected – Meetings and WhatsApp
We agreed that we would meet on a more regular basis throughout 2023 and have scheduled the next meeting to take place via Zoom at 7pm AEDT Tuesday 17 January 2023.
