Work Health Safety in the Context of the Coronavirus

Earlier this week FSU wrote to NAB to ensure appropriate measures were in place to mitigate against potential work health safety risks arising from the spread of the coronavirus.

NAB has advised the following measures are now in place:

  1. Any employee who has travelled to affected areas in China since mid-January is instructed not to attend work for 14 days from the date of return;
  2. Any employee that has come into contact with an affected person is instructed not to attend work for 14 days from the date of exposure;
  3. Anyone exhibiting flu-like symptoms is instructed not to attend work and is requested to consult their doctor.

Any employee that has travelled to China since mid-January or has come into contact with an affected person needs medical clearance before returning to work.

NAB has also confirmed that this is paid leave (Special Leave – Pandemic Quarantine).

Lunar New Year Event

Following FSU advocacy, the Lunar New Year event scheduled for the evening of Wednesday 5 February has been cancelled.

Performance Objectives

FSU is also advocating for appropriate adjustments to be made to performance measure where there is impact on staffing due the effects of the coronavirus.
