FSU Members at CBA Gain Job Certainty

Great Outcome in Fair Work Commission

After recent reports in the media about CBA’s ‘secret plans to cut jobs and close branches’, FSU members have demanded to know CBA’s real intentions. To get some real answers, your FSU took CBA to the Fair Work Commission over their lack of consultation.

We asked whether they actually had plans to cut 10,000 jobs and close 300 branches. The CBA said they don’t have such plans.

You can expect to receive an email from CBA confirming this by the end of the week.

In the commission we pushed back on their reluctance to notify staff about this – it was pointed out that if there really weren’t such plans, making a public statement should be easy! They eventually agreed to issue a communication to staff, confirming they don’t plan to cut 10,000 jobs and close 300 branches.

CBA wants to bring the FSU into change processes earlier in the future.

FSU National Secretary, Julia Angrisano, is meeting with your CEO next week to discuss the new approach to consultation – where workers are consulted at the start not the end!
