Hard Ask on Culture Gets Weak Reply

Yesterday Queensland Local Executive Secretary Wendy Streets attended the CBA AGM to put some crucial questions to the CBA Chair Catherine Livingstone AO.

We know that improving culture at every level of CBA will be critical in restoring trust and confidence in our industry.

So we asked:

In what ways will the Board step up and improve its supervision of the Executive Leadership Team to ensure that CBA is working towards good culture and how will the Board ensure that good cultural practices are permeating their way through all level of CBA?

Unfortunately the response was hardly reassuring. Ms Livingstone outlined changes in some policies and procedures as well as changes to remuneration practices for staff and Senior Executives — but failed to provide any detail about steps the Board would take moving forward, to ensure that genuine change would occur across the Group.

The FSU and its members will continue to campaign for genuine cultural change both within CBA and the industry at large.
