We continue to receive calls from Queensland members at Bendigo Bank regarding being instructed to carry out home visits to some of their customers. In FSU’s opinion this is putting those staff members at risk and flies in the face of Government restrictions. This is totally unacceptable.
When our members have raised their concerns with their line manager they have been advised to “call first and ask if they are all healthy” and when they get to the homes “you can have the conversation with your customer through the screen door.”
No finance worker should be directed to do home visits, door knocking or cold calling during these times, it is simply too dangerous.
FSU has written to Bendigo Bank and all other employers in our industry regarding the wellbeing of our members. Bendigo Bank have for the most part put appropriate measures in place to protect the front line staff however the refusal to remove the expectation that you may need to do a home visit is simply unacceptable.
If you are having these problems or similar ones and feeling unsafe, please email us at qld@fsunion.org.au.
If you are not already a member, you should join now and work with other union members to achieve a safe working environment in these difficult times.
In unity and stay safe,
Wendy Streets
