Negotiation meetings kicked off two weeks ago and will be held fortnightly for IAG and the FSU to discuss the terms and conditions for our new Enterprise Agreement.
Yesterday we met with IAG for the second of our negotiation meetings.
In principle agreement on superannuation for unpaid parental leave
During our second meeting IAG and the FSU discussed how IAG can do more to support their employees who take unpaid parental leave. Currently, those on unpaid leave are not provided superannuation, which can have a negative impact on the retirement savings of primary caregivers.
IAG and the FSU have reached an in principle agreement that superannuation should be provided to primary caregivers on unpaid parental leave. IAG has provided a proposal to the FSU that aims to help IAG working parents, and further details will be released in due course. This proposal is an important step in closing the gender pay gap in retirement.
What’s next?
Once an agreement is reached, everyone covered by the EA will have the opportunity to vote on the proposed Enterprise Agreement. This process could take a number of months and may not be finalised until mid-2020.
