You may recall that our union recently wrote to IAG seeking clarification on their 10 day per month in-office mandate for our Tech and Operations department.
Specifically, we called on IAG to confirm that leave would be counted as an office attendance day, and that office attendance would not be linked to performance.
Is leave counted in WFH requirements?
We’ve now received a response from IAG, and we’re pleased that IAG has confirmed that shutdown periods and leave days are not included when assessing work from home expectations. In other words, you are not expected to make up any in-office days from periods of leave, regardless of what kind of leave you took and for how long.
Is office attendance linked to performance?
On office attendance not being linked to staff performance, IAG responded indirectly, saying employees are “expected to comply with our WFO expectations” and that “non-compliance may lead to further discussions”, while “repeated non-compliance may lead to formal disciplinary action”.
It is essential that matters relating to staff performance are crystal clear to ensure employees understand how we are being assessed. We’ve gone back to IAG to seek further clarification on their response.
How should WFH days be distributed?
Promisingly, IAG has also confirmed that there is no expectation regarding how your 10 in-office days should be distributed across the month. For example, you may agree with your team leader to take your 10 days in a row and work the rest of the month from home.
We will continue to work with IAG on outstanding issues and let you know when we have more information.
In the meantime, it’s vital that we all work together to secure the outcome we want.If you’re not yet a member of the team that’s fighting for fair workplace flexibility at IAG, now is the time to join our union.
