Join us at the May Day Parade and family fun day at Nobbys Beach Park this Sunday.
The march kicks off at the Newcastle Museum at 10am, then heads to Nobbys Beach.
There’ll be face painting for the kids, carnival rides, entertainment, as well as fantastic food and coffee from Zaras House and the Tibetan community. Keen singers can join in with the Newcastle People’s Chorus for songs of solidarity!
May Day is a day to recognise the ongoing challenges and countless victories of working people across the world. In Australia, May Day was born out of the struggle for shorter working hours in the early 1800s.
On this day we come together to celebrate the achievements of working people across the Hunter Region – recognising the vital contribution of working people to our communities and to society.
