Finance Sector Union of Australia (FSU) National Secretary Julia Angrisano has been returned, securing an estimated 80 per cent of the vote, in a ballot for office-holders which has just concluded.
The results are subject to final declarations by the Australian Electoral Commission.
“I am honoured to have been elected as the National Secretary of the union I love and commit myself and the union leadership to continuing to work tirelessly for the benefit of members,” Ms Angrisano said.
Ms Angrisano said members had given a clear endorsement of the priorities she and the leadership team had set for the future.
This includes:
- Continuing to secure better wages and conditions for our members;
- Highlighting the need for improved skills and training recognition and portability of qualifications; and
- Working with major employers to improve the reputation of the banking sector.
“Our sector has a big challenge ahead of it as it seeks to rebuild trust with the Australian people. As a union leader, my first priority will always be to secure better wages and conditions for our members,” she said.
“However, consumers also deserve a finance sector that is reliable and trustworthy. As a part of restoring trust in the sector, I will support finance sector CEO’s who are doing the right thing by their employees and their customers.”
“I intend to lead an ethical, progressive and constructive union that understands the critical importance of a prosperous and transparent finance sector.”
“I look forward to working with our members and the broader industry, to deliver a sector that provides ethical products for the community and fairness in the workplace.”
“I would also congratulate the following successful candidates:
