In devastating news, CBA has announced further job cuts – this time in their Technology division.
Specifically, 105 roles will be impacted across Retail Technology, Business Banking Tech, Ops and Tech Corp Services and Chief Security Office functions.
CBA has once again pointed to ‘modernisation’ and ‘simplification’ to justify these cuts.
However, these cuts are at odds with what CBA Chairman Paul O’Malley said at the bank’s recent AGM when asked about jobs being moved overseas:
“In some areas there is not sufficient capability in Australia […] We have around 6000 employees in India. They’re very skilled, capable people. The activities can all be undertaken in Australia but not all activities of the skills we need are available at scale.”
It beggars belief that management can make such claims, then just a few weeks later announce further job cuts here in Australia.
