We’re reaching a crucial point in our negotiations with MUFG Retirement Solutions (RSS) regarding our Enterprise Agreement (EA). Our first bargaining meeting in four months was last Friday and lasted just over an hour.
MUFG shared an initial draft of the EA only the day before the meeting, limiting our ability to conduct a thorough review prior to the session. At the meeting, MUFG presented their draft in headline fashion. We briefly covered the detail under each clause heading, managing to cover about two-thirds of it, but deferring our key responses until we could fully assess the content.
We are currently in the process of thoroughly reviewing the draft in preparation for the next bargaining meeting and will share the details with you next week.
Your involvement is critical
You have the power to shape the outcome of these negotiations and the final Agreement.
We will be hosting three bargaining update meetings next week to discuss the most important issues in detail, including pay, flexibility, hours of work, overtime and workloads, breaks, and grandfathering.
To have your say, register for one of the meetings below:
Thursday 29 August, 6pm (AEST)
Friday 30 August, 12pm (AEST)
Friday 30 August, 3pm (AEST)
Key issues
- Pay: The current offer from MUFG is inadequate, falling short of industry standards and failing to address the cost-of-living pressures you’ve been absorbing. Also, the so-called “guaranteed” pay increases are conditional upon participating in an annual salary review.
- Flexibility: MUFG’s draft merely reflects their existing position. We know you want more than the status quo, and together, we can push for a better arrangement.
- Grandfathering of previous conditions: The initial draft didn’t include any reference to grandfathering. Your union recognised this oversight and thanks to our intervention, MUFG has now agreed to include a schedule in the EA to cover grandfathering.
- Overtime and credit time: Our position is all work performed should be paid work or compensated as time in lieu if that is your preference. Everyone covered by this EA should have access to paid overtime, but the current draft does not reflect this position.
The only way to achieve a better outcome is to stand together for what we deserve, so if you’re not already a member with the FSU, join today.
