NAB commences investigation of staff underpayments

Yesterday FSU heard from NAB that they are undertaking a comprehensive analysis of staff underpayments going back, in some circumstances, as far as 2009. PWC and KWM have been brought in to conduct the investigation.

The FSU has been putting pressure on the bank for some time around a number of payment issues.

Late last year NAB informed us of an underpayment issue they expected at that time to affect just over 700 staff. FSU has now learned the final figure exposed was close to 1,500 staff; the payments are almost completed now.

Group 3 & 4 hours issue

In February, FSU wrote to NAB asking them to investigate the issue of 40 hour contracts for Groups 3 & 4 staff, where we believe the contracts should be 38 hours. This has been a long-ongoing issue –  FSU previously sought a legal opinion which justifies our stance on this. This is now one of several significant issues that PWC and KWM will investigate.

FSU have a commitment from NAB that ‘no stone will be left unturned’ in this process, which is expected to take until at least the end of the year.

FSU member input to the underpayments audit

FSU has advised NAB we will open an email account for members to raise any concerns they may have around any underpayment issue, to allow us to include these issues into the mix for this audit. Please send any issues to nabmembers@fsunion.org.au

It is important that as much information as possible is fed into this process. Please check your pay records and your superannuation, and if there is any cause for concern please email us immediately.

Not a member yet?

If you are not a member yet, there’s no time like the present to join your colleagues as an FSU member, and work together to ensure that corrections are made and systems put in place into the future to ensure all staff at NAB are paid correctly 100% of the time. FSU will continue to work closely with NAB to achieve this.
