At 9am on Wednesday 23 November you will be able to cast your vote on Management’s proposed EA.
Ross said that NAB won’t come back to bargaining, can that happen?
Today NAB CEO Ross McEwan wrote to all colleagues claiming that if the majority voted no, the Bank had “…no plans to return to bargaining”.
Disappointingly, this is flatly misleading as all parties, including NAB, are bound by Good Faith Bargaining obligations under the Fair Work Act. This means that all parties are required to attend and participate in bargaining meetings.
We have written to Ross today and called for an immediate retraction of this deliberate and obvious attempt to pressure members into voting Yes.
The results of the ballot will be available after 5pm (AEDT) on Tuesday 29 November. Importantly, if we have defeated this proposal bargaining continues. Our aim will be to reconvene with NAB in December to continue bargaining.
By staying united and all voting No, we will be in the strongest possible position to secure real improvements on pay, workloads, leave etc for all colleagues without loss of conditions.
It would be disrespectful and in breach of our Good Faith obligations for Management to ignore the clear mandate that colleagues will have provided by rejecting their pay cut agenda.
How do I make my vote count on Wednesday?
Management’s proposal will be defeated if the majority of people who vote, vote No. Every vote is crucial.
What do I need to know about voting No? |

Speak to your colleagues
Now is the time to speak to your colleagues. NAB’s proposal will leave us all worse off and it’s important everyone knows what is at risk and why this ballot is so important.
Remember only the majority of staff who cast a vote will determine the outcome. If they don’t like what management are offering then they need to vote.
Only by actually voting No in the confidential ballot can we improve this offer.
To assist we have created leaflets and posters you can print out, share with your colleagues, and put up in the workplace – check them out here.
Or you can forward this update on to everyone you work with and if you’re not already a member, join today.
Together we can achieve a better deal!
