On 19 February NAB announced the first tranche of a restructure that would see 6000 jobs cut over the next three years. This tranche represents cuts amounting to approximately 500 job losses.
After receiving advice from NAB that the restructure process was commencing, FSU wrote to NAB about the issues already raised by members following the November announcement. You can review the correspondence here.
Workplace Meetings Underway
The FSU has been conducting workplace meetings nationally to collect feedback and to provide advice and support to impacted members. Your feedback to date indicated the process has been inconsistent with NAB’s public commitments about this process. When the first round of job cuts was announced, NAB stated:
“We said we would provide the utmost care and respect for all of our people. This remains our priority.” – Lorraine Murphy, Chief People Person NAB
Feedback already provided to NAB by the FSU as part of the consultation process includes:
- Incorrect packs posted to the intranet, including incorrect names slotted to roles;
- People Leaders failing to have 1 on 1 conversations with impacted employees;
- Role Purpose Statements not available during the consultation period;
- Timeframes insufficient for employees to seek appropriate advice and to consider options;
- “The Bridge” portal not yet ready.
The consistent message from employees to FSU is that these failures have resulted in an unnecessary level of anxiety in the workplace. There is genuine concern about their ability to continue to deliver for customers as the job cuts take effect.
Last chance to provide feedback
FSU will provide final feedback to NAB at the conclusion of the consultation period on Friday, 2nd March 2018. With a major restructure impacting up to 1000 workers every six months, it is critical NAB lifts its game.
If you have any feedback to provide email nabmembers@fsunion.org.au by close of business Friday 2 March 2018.
