FSU members have campaigned long and hard against offshoring of Australian jobs. Today Westpac Group workers are celebrating the news that 1000 jobs will be coming back onshore.

This announcement is welcome news for Westpac Group workers and it is also good news for the broader economy, good secure Australian jobs needs to be the focus of our economic recovery.

These jobs will create career opportunities for existing staff in different areas of the bank, both now and into the future.  At this stage we understand the jobs will predominantly be in back office processing areas such as home loans, and the remainder to be in call centres.

As Westpac lead the way in listening to their staff and the community, by bringing jobs back onshore, FSU and its members will continue to campaign for all Australian jobs across the finance industry that are currently offshore to be repatriated.

FSU will continue to engage with Westpac and our members to ensure the transition of these jobs back onshore is successful.   Look out for our updates on this issue and your opportunity to provide input and feedback.

Your involvement is critical to ensuring a successful process, make sure your voice is heard by being part of the FSU.  If you are not a member join now, if you are a member speak to your colleagues about our win, ask them to be part of our team.

Congratulations to every FSU member who has campaigned to secure skilled well paid Australian jobs and put a stop to offshoring.  This win belongs to us all.
