Join the campaign for paid pandemic leave

Dear Member,

I recently wrote to you outlining the FSU’s COVID+Aware campaign, and our participation in the broader union movement campaign being run by ACTU.

You recently completed the FSU survey, and your union is busy analysing the key issues for you and your workmates. We will have more to say on this in the coming weeks.

I also wanted to update you on the ACTU campaign and what role you can play in campaigning to improve the health and safety of all workers. If we are to secure national legislated improvements to health and safety laws, we need to campaign together as a union movement and a community.

The ACTU Campaign has three key objectives:

  1. Two weeks guaranteed paid pandemic leave for all workers.
  2. Stronger, clearer and more consistent national work health and safety laws.
  3. COVID+Aware workplaces, including the mandatory reporting of COVID-19 cases.
It is critical that we put pressure on the Federal Morrison government now to legislate for two weeks paid pandemic leave for all of us.

Add your voice to the campaign for pandemic leave

You can participate in the campaign to secure two weeks paid pandemic leave for all workers by signing the ACTU petition here.

If we are to control coronavirus, and the risks it poses to all of us, all workers need access to paid pandemic leave. We have all seen the increase of COVID-19 cases in Victoria, no worker should ever have to choose between going to work sick or staying home in order to put food on the table or pay their bills. Remember, our success depends on building support for our campaign. Ask your family, friends and workmates to sign the petition.

In Unity,
Julia Angrisano
