P&Nbank/bcu asks employees to take annual leave: what are your rights?

We are working in very different circumstances since COVID-19 invaded our world. This week P&Nbank briefed the FSU on their decision to ask employees to access five days annual leave by 30 June 2020. We have received calls from members asking about their rights at this time.

  • The bank assured the union that this was an ask of employees and there would not be a directive to take the leave.
  • It was also confirmed that employees who did not have five days leave accrued would not be required to go into negative leave.
  • Every effort would be made by the bank to work with each employee to consider their preferences and family circumstances when approving the leave.
  • The bank will provide relief staff (as much as is possible) for branches. They are aware of minimising any work intensification and will not approve leave where the business is unable to accommodate the leave.

If you are experiencing issues such as being directed to take leave, including leave that would put you into negative accrual, contact the Member Rights Centre on 1300 366 378.
