Start before you start... What happens where you work?

Members have contacted the union to enquire about the expectation they are required to be ready to start work at their contracted start time.

When this issue was  raised by members the union wrote to IAG seeking clarification of what this actually means.  IAG replied in February 2021 with the following:

“Specifically, IAG does not require employees to be logged on prior to their shifts commencing. Employees are however required to be ‘customer ready’ at the start of their shift and the process for this is: log into laptop, log into soft phone and open Orbit application (Process). This Process should take employees no longer than 1 minute in duration. If employees also need to log into other systems such as Outlook or Teams these can be loaded while the employee takes their first call.”
