Over 30,000 work hours cut each week – who’s picking up the pieces?

Yet another 78 roles have been slashed in Westpac, bringing our total number of job cuts to well over 750 in just a few short weeks.

This amounts to over 30,000 hours of work lost to the business each week (or over one and a half million hours each year)! And it will be left to those who remain to pick up the pieces and cover this workload at a time when we know many are already overworked and close to burnout.

Are you concerned about the additional workload from these job cuts?

Take our quick poll: Yes/No

Westpac has an obligation to make sure our workplace is safe, and this includes ensuring our workloads are safe and manageable. So please tell us if you feel your workloads are unsafe.

These latest round of job cuts have largely been in the financial crime and risk/compliance areas. It’s a short-sighted and dangerous move by Westpac to remove roles which help keep our customers safe.

This is yet another example of how Westpac is placing profits before people, with no consideration for our community or workforce.

You can still complete our feedback form and let us know if you’ve been impacted by these cuts, so we can best support you.

In unity,
Your FSU Team
